The CRU RAX420-XJ DAS Hard Drive Array is a compact, high‑throughput storage solution designed for demanding data workloads. Built as a 4‑bay JBOD housed in a sturdy 2U rackmount enclosure, this unit delivers reliable, expandable storage for professional environments where space, performance, and simplicity matter. With a multilane SFF-8088 interface and 6 Gb/s transfer capability, the RAX420‑XJ is optimized for multi-drive connectivity and scalable data consolidation, making it an excellent fit for media editing suites, backup infrastructures, data archiving, and proactive disaster recovery strategies. The enclosure emphasizes ease of use: TrayFree bays and a straightforward drive insertion process reduce downtime and streamline upgrades, so you can rapidly respond to evolving storage needs without wrestling with screws or trays. In short, the CRU RAX420-XJ blends rugged design with practical drive‑installation ergonomics to deliver dependable, scalable DAS storage in a compact footprint.

  • 4‑bay JBOD in a 2U rackmount chassis: A compact, enterprise‑grade solution that consolidates four 3.5" SATA hard drives into a single external storage array. The 2U form factor maximizes rack space while keeping internal components organized for maintenance and upgrades.
  • 6 Gb/s performance over a Multilane SFF-8088 interface: Expect solid sequential throughput and dependable data transfer rates suitable for bandwidth‑hungry workloads. The Multilane SFF‑8088 design supports efficient external connections to compatible host interfaces and controllers.
  • TrayFree bays for tool-less drive installation: No screws, no trays—simply open the enclosure door, slide in the drive, and close the door. This ergonomic design minimizes downtime during capacity upgrades and maintenance, enabling rapid expansion as storage demands grow.
  • Open, accessible drive entry with easy maintenance: The drive insertion point is designed for quick access, reducing the time and effort required to add or upgrade drives in a busy data center or editing suite.
  • Compatibility with 3.5" SATA hard drives for scalable storage: The unit is tailored for 3.5" SATA HDDs, providing reliable, cost‑effective storage expansion while preserving familiar drive technologies and connectors for IT teams.

How to install CRU RAX420-XJ DAS Hard Drive Array

Installing the CRU RAX420-XJ is designed to be straightforward, with an emphasis on quick, tool-free drive integration and simple rack mounting. Begin by identifying a suitable 19-inch rack location with adequate airflow and accessible cabling. Ensure your host system has a compatible controller or adapter that supports a Multilane SFF-8088 interface and can recognize the DAS JBOD as a separate storage resource. If you are replacing or expanding existing storage, plan the drive order and cabling to minimize disruption to active workloads.

Step‑by‑step guidance:

  • Power down the host system and verify that the rack space is clean, free of debris, and properly grounded.
  • Mount the CRU RAX420-XJ into the 2U rack enclosure, aligning with rack rails, and secure it to ensure stability during operation.
  • Insert up to four 3.5" SATA hard drives into the TrayFree bays. The bays are designed for tool-less installation—no screws or trays required. Gently slide each drive into its bay until it seats firmly.
  • Connect the external Multilane SFF-8088 cable from the CRU RAX420-XJ to a compatible host adapter or RAID controller on your server or workstation. Ensure cables are routed neatly to avoid interference with airflow and other components.
  • Power on the enclosure and the host system. If required, initialize and format the drives through your operating system or storage management software, and configure the DAS as JBOD or as part of a larger storage pool according to your workflow needs.

Post‑installation, monitor drive health and performance using the system’s storage management tools. The TrayFree design supports rapid future upgrades; simply repeat the drive insertion process when capacity grows. For best results, maintain proper cooling and airflow around the enclosure to sustain consistent performance and prolong drive life. This CRU DAS array is built to be a practical, scalable addition to a wide range of environments, from creative studios to enterprise backup infrastructures, delivering dependable expansion without sacrificing rack space or ease of maintenance.

Great weird horror
Format: Kindle
The Department of Truth: The End of the World is the first trade volume of this series, collecting issues 1-5. I don’t want to get into spoilers, but I enjoyed seeing a world building element I was familiar with in fantasy be applied to conspiracy theories. I also loved the art. It’s really stunning! I almost want to buy a print edition in addition to my Kindle/ComiXology edition because it’s so beautiful. I found the plot and concept compelling and can’t wait to read volume 2.

meh...
Format: Paperback
collecting the entire universe, so obviously i picked this up. i absolutely LOVE the stuff written by Ryan Parrott, but it seems like the some of the side stories were just thrown into the universe for the sake of 'diversity'. identity politics is injected into BOTH of the books in this series (that i have read so far... im somewhere in the middle of year two) that were written by Melissa Flores, for no reason except projection, propaganda and forced diversity quotas. the book isnt even an extreme offender or anything, but the 'community' has caused so many problems, in ever facet of society that they have attached themselves to, that i (and so many others) now see any of it as huge red flag... and that is sad, because i was raised to have the EXACT opposite viewpoint, and i did, for well over 30 years (just turned 40).
