About Dulcie

Dulcie is the adopted daughter of renowned artist Polly Ngale and the biological daughter of Jeannie Petyarre. Dulcie has continued the strong painting tradition of her extended family. She comes from the Utopia region of the Northern Territory; a community that has astounded the art world since Aboriginal people put paint on canvas in the late 1980s. The Utopia women, in particular, caught the attention of the international art world for their sense of colour, creativity, genius and contemporary appeal. Dulcie grew up surrounded by these artistic prodigies including Emily Kame Kngwarreye, Gloria and Kathleen Petyarre, Greeny Purvis Petyarre and the Pwerle sisters, Minnie, Emily, Galya, Lizzie and Molly.

Dulcie began her artistic career depicting the interweaving leaves of the Pencil Yam from the Alhalkere Country of her mother. It is an important bush tucker food for Aboriginal people as well as a significant dreaming story that is celebrated in their Awelye ceremonies. The Pencil Yam and Bush Medicine leaves are a common motif for her creative relatives and Dulcie's work has captivating rhythmic strokes and vibrant colours. Dulcie also paints this story with reverence for its history and with the hope that the spirit of the plants continues.

While continuing her family's tradition of painting this story, Dulcie has also branched out and started to pursue a more individualistic and minimalistic style. Her works depict her ancestral country where important Awelye ceremonies take place. Fine rows of dots marking out the locations of sandhills, bush scrub, river flood plains and sometimes waterholes and ceremonial sites. Despite Dulcie's progress to a more restrained colour palette, there is exceptionally fine attention to detail, complex designs and underlying cultural meaning.

With an impressive portfolio of paintings, subjects and styles already to her name, Dulcie continues the Utopia art tradition of creating bold artworks with colour, style and flair. Time will tell if she will join her family members as one of the greats.

Great Product
Color: White, Size: 0.15 Ounce (Pack of 1)
This lip balm was recommended by my surgeon to protect my lip from uv rays. Surprisingly, it does not have that yucky spf taste other lip balms have. It does create a white cast, but I find if I lightly put it on the cast is not prominent, and I am Caribbean with deep tan skin. Very grateful this lip balm does its job!

Protect Your Lips
Color: White, Size: 0.15 Ounce (Pack of 1)
This chapstick feels great on my lips, nice smooth texture, no unpleasant taste. It definitely protects my lips from the sun. The only downside is that it has a white tint to it on my lips; I wish it were completely sheer.

A good sun solution for sensitive lips!
Color: White, Size: 0.15 Ounce (Pack of 1)
Having sensitive lips can be super frustrating. They burn SO easily in the sun. But most sunscreen lip balms on the market irritate them. Those that don't irritate aren't moisturizing at all, so my lips become dry and chapped. Which leads to more sensitivity. Ugh. But so far this Sun Bum SPF 30 has worked for me! No sunburnt lips. No irritation. Enough moisture to keep my lips soft and healthy while working or playing outside. Sure, it's s not really pleasant tasting when it gets in your mouth, and like most zinc-based sunscreens, it makes my lips milky white. But it works for my picky lips and it's a good value for the money--it's become my summertime staple.

Hydrates, leaves a slight white film, not travel friendly
Color: White, Size: 0.15 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I wear lip balm regularly. As a matter of fact, I always have some with me. Tubes are placed in various areas around my house, I have one in my car, in my backpack and a couple tubes at work. I'm seriously never without it so I kind of consider myself a lip balm expert. The only thing most of the ones I use don't have is SPF. Since I live in an area that is fairly sunny year round, you think I'd be better about that. Well, I'm looking to change that. I saw this Sun Bum SPF 30 Mineral Sunscreen Lip Balm and read some of the reviews. They seemed overwhelmingly positive. I'm familiar with the brand and since it was covered under my HRA, decided to try this one out along with a few others. It glides on easily and moisturizes well, but it left a slight white film on my lips. Not my favorite but it did fade. It's unscented and doesn't have any flavor, which is good. I loathe lip balms with any type of taste to them. Good or bad. It has clean ingredients and offers great sun protection but it doesn't withstand heat itself. If you like to carry one in your pocket, backpack or keep in your car, it will melt. I do like this lip balm but it has some negatives, as stated above. It made my lips feel soft and hydrated but it's not travel friendly. I wouldn't discourage buying it, but if you want a balm to carry around with you, I'd be hesitant to recommend it.
