About time! In the intervening decades, Ms. St. John issued four gorgeous LPs during the 1970s, then had a quiet spell after moving to the U.S. In the '90s a sequence of crucial archival recordings on John Tobler's Road Goes on Forever label, as well as Nigel Cross's peerless Shagrat imprint started appearing. She began playing live again as well, appearing at Phil McMullen's Boston Terrastock among other places. With the release of Live at the Betsey Trotwood, Bridget demonstrates to all and sundry that her musical powers are undiminished. Beautifully recorded at the Betsey in London, the set mixes newer originals ('Castaway', 'The Hole in Your Heart', etc.) with classics from her repertoire ('Fly High', 'Ask Me No Questions') and some lovely covers. These range from Joni Mitchell's 'The Fiddle and the Drum' segueing into a Trump-informed version of 'America the Beautiful', to a sweet take on Michael Chapman's 'Rabbit Hills' (from Fully Qualified Survivor). Listening to this set, I am actually reminded of Chapman (with whom Bridget has been touring recently). Both of them seem to be ever advancing, their voices growing richer and stronger as they accrue experience, the beauty and power of their guitar playing diminishing not one whit. Goodness I love these. I moved within the last several months, and my new town and state is not as on top of recycling as my old state was. I also knew I wanted to stop using those plastic net poofs. I didnt have easy access to a washer, and I hate laundry anyway.. so washcloths arent a huge part of my life. What was a girl to do? Buy these. Thats what everyone should do. They hang nice. My soap dries. It exfoliates amazingly without being too rough. I tried another brand before this and it was *blows raspberry* 💩. Fell apart super easy, didnt suds up well.. just no. But this one I love. The soap I bought fit just fine, but took up the whole net. I didnt like that. It didnt dry as well or suds up at all. So I started cutting my soap in half and now it works GREAT. Warning - its not good on your private bits. Itll scratch you the heck up. You shouldnt be using anything on your private bits other than soap and your hand anyway. I also recommend harder bars of soap. Super soft super lotion infused bars dont seem to hold up as well. If youre trying to reduce your plastic waste and like feeling amazingly exfoliated, this is for you.

Makes bar soap better

I recently switched back to bar soap because I wanted to save money on bath products, having to shower twice a day at work during the pandemic. These little pouches are soft, but have enough fiber to be mildly exfoliating but not abrasive. The rubbing motion of the fiber on the soap bar while washing actually increases the lather beyond what you would get with the bar alone. The sisal fiber also absorbs the oils and scents of the bar, and I noticed that the smell of the soap was stronger on my skin after showering. I am a man, and it is soft enough for your face and naughty bits. You also don’t waste any soap, as the pouch holds your bar even after it shrinks down and breaks. It also hangs conveniently on my shower rack. I have been using Dove white beauty bars with these pouches and I have noticed my skin is noticeably less dry and softer. NOTE: the pouches do have a slight odor like hay or dry wood when they come out of the box (there is a warning on the package), but it goes away quickly on your first use. If you use bar soap you should definitely give these a try!
