The Volkshaus furniture series was designed for the institution Volkshaus Basel in 2020, as part of their boutique hotel. Characterised by a clear, sculptural appearance, the intersecting X-shapes reveal a complex frame construction – a product of research and exploration into the possibilities and limitations of CNC precision cutting for traditional wooden joints, like those used in Japanese carpentry and architecture.

Lounge Chair combines the characteristics of a low seat with the functionality of a deck chair to create a piece of furniture that is comfortable but not bulky. The Stool not only serves as a footrest to complement the Lounge Chair but can also function as a luggage rack. Available in natural oak with sage green cord or in black stained oak with black cord, a homage to the historic green hues of the original painted joinery of the Volkshaus, and to the pure geometric expression of the furniture`s own structural form.
