Are you looking for a unique and low-maintenance plant to add to your collection? Look no further than the Mangave 'Lavender lady'. This gorgeous hybrid combines the best traits of Agave macroacantha and Manfreda maculosa to create a stunning smoky purple color. Plus, not only is it safe for humans and pets, but it also requires only moderate watering and full sun exposure.

Mangave is sure to be a showstopper in your garden or indoor space!

Mangave 'Lavender Lady' is a charming evergreen succulent plant that grows quickly and forms a single, compact, mounded rosette. It can grow up to 12 inches tall by 20 inches wide and hold as many flattened fleshy leaves that have purple-lavender spots when emerging are simply stunning. At maturity, this plant produces a thick spike that arches over and bears hundreds of yellow flowers that are sure to add a pop of color to your space.

With its solitary rosette habit and smoky purple coloration, the Mangave 'Lavender Lady' resembles an EcheveriaGo to Echeveria more than any other plant.

Watering Needs

Watering your Mangave 'Lavender Lady' is important, especially during its first season in a new planting container. These succulents need moderate irrigation to keep the soil moist, but not too wet. Make sure you check the soil before watering, as these plants do not like to be waterlogged or soggy.

Usually, watering once every two or three weeks is ample during the summer. In the winter, if it doesn't rain you still should only water your Mangave hybrid at least once a month. If the plant doesn't receive enough moisture for an extended period of time, discoloration, pale stems, and browning can occur leading to stunted growth. In contrast, overwatering can cause root rot and fungal infection.

Light Requirements

Like most succulents, the lavender plants love lots of light. It is a type of succulent plant that requires bright, direct sunlightGo to How much light to thrive. When grown as a houseplant, it should be placed in the sunniest spot in your home in order to receive the six to eight hours of direct sunlight that it needs each day. This usually means placing the succulent in a south or west-facing window or using a grow light to provide supplemental light.

When grown outdoors, ensure that the Mangave plant is not planted in a shady location.

Optimal Soil & Fertilizers Needs

Mangave plant favors very airy, sandy soil that drains well. Planting them in ordinary soil will result in compacted roots, stunted growth, and most likely root rot. Instead, make or buy a well-draining potting mix, or ideally use our specialized potting mixGo to Soil cactus mix blend 1 gal 4 qt cacti succulent dirt compost growing media that contains over 10 natural substrates and mycorrhizae to promote the development of a strong root system that helps your succulent to thrive.

When it comes to fertilizers! Organic or 100% natural fertilizers are the best choice as they last longer and keep your soil alive by adding other beneficial compounds and microbes that encourage plant health and nutrient absorption. So, skip those harsh chemicals and give your succulent some love with a good natural fertilizer!

Very rarely feed your plant, and when you do, make sure you use a small amount of fertilizer. Experts agree that succulents should be fertilized once a year in the spring.

A little goes a long way!

Hardiness Zones & More

This is the least hardy of the Mangave hybrids and should be protected from a hard frost. The ability to grow Mangave plants outdoors in the USDA hardiness zones 9 - 11 is still up for debate with regard to temperature and humidity tolerance. But it can thrive as well in zone 8. The hardest temperature is 60°F (if grown outdoors), though some succulents plant can tolerate 25°F for a short period.

Like most succulents, it doesn't thrive in conditions with very high humidity, because the leaves are known to store water. By providing your hybrid plant with the proper conditions, you'll have a beautiful and unique plant that will thrive for years to come.

Mangave are fantastic plants for adding interest and excitement to the garden, and 'Lavender Lady' is no exception - with her gorgeous purple leaves that are sure to stand out!

Not the same rubber.
I just received these today. I already have two of the same size direct from the local pet store. The one thing I liked about them that made me want to buy more - my 13lb dog could chew on them all night and never leave a mark. The red one I received was as expected. The blue one I received was not made out of the same rubber. It was softer. We played catch a few times and it didn’t bounce the same. I looked away for 5 minutes and she had it already starting to shred. Not sure what happened but 1 of the 2 balls I was sent was not up to par, possibly defective.

Great
Size: Medium, Number of Items: 1
I need something that was soft for my three year old and this ball is super great, it not only is the right size but it also fits in his mouth just right. Although he is a super aggressive chewer, the ball toy hasn't been totally destroyed yet and it is easy on his gums. The ball is so durable that got two of these toys just for fun.

The best!
UPDATE: 08/05/2025 - This is still one of my dog's 2 fav training/play toys. A couple of notes: 1. This is not a chew toy. If your pup is chewing up the rope, that's on you. That being said, you can get 100' of the poly cord rope at Home Depot for like $4.98. You can make nearly 100 ropes out of 100'. How hard is it to replace the rope????? 2. My pup is a now 15 month old Malinois. His original balls, purchase in September 2024 are still in everyday, multiple times per day, play. I did get careless and leave one where he got it and chew the rope. Easily replaced. Nothing to fret over. Yes, that was on me! 3.The foam ball is virtually indestructible! Replace the rope! 4. I noticed the price for the yellow large went from $12 each to $24. THIS will cause me to go elsewhere if they doubled in price. I LOVE these balls but not that much. I noticed they have a new yellow ball that has a strap vs. a rope. I might try that if I need one, but I have 6 of these balls, 2 never used yet, 2 that are virtually new looking, and 2 that have been in play since september 2024. I don't think I'll be buying more any time soon, but if I do need more, I hope they haven't gone up to $24 each. One of my top, go-to training tools. Quality is great other than the shrink wrap around the string joint. It's junk but not essential. Great tug and fetch toy. Essential to teaching a good "out" command (2 are recommended for this).

Best dog ball
This is our go to dog toy for our German shepherd. its great for training in sports as well as outings at the beach, considering it floats! Never had him destroy one, so its extremely durable. I like that its a bright color so its easier to locate when i accidently let go of the rope too late and end up whipping it 20 ft into the woods. Easy to clean, all around just a great toy. Also love the large size as having a dog accidently lodge a ball into its throat is a real fear of mine, I do not have to worry about that with this toy. I should also mention the rope is a must, as touching a slobbery ball isn't the greatest feeling in the world and it puts your hands out of harms way. I will forever order these.
