De verschillende bodemstructuren voor Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge

De Chateauneuf du Pape wijnen van wijnhuis La Gardine hebben een grote naamsbekendheid. De kwaliteit is constant en dat samen met de prachtige uitstraling van de flessen maken deze wijnen erg geliefd. We hebben deze heerlijke wijnen te danken aan Gaston Brunel die in 1945 het wijnhuis oprichtte. Het is nog steeds in familiehanden en hij wist zijn passie en toewijding over te brengen op zijn zonen. De ruim 40 tot 60 jaar oude wijnstokken bevinden zich op drie soorten grond namelijk op "gerolde stenen" van de Diluvium Alpin, beter bekend als "opgerolde kiezelstenen", waardoor deze wijn body krijgt en structuur. De volgende ondergrond is kalkstenen met witte kiezelstenen van de Urgonen, essentieel om een mooie mineraliteit te verkrijgen in deze Chateauneuf du Pape. En als laatste de bruine bodems voor finesse en elegantie. Het is deze mix van bodems die het mogelijk maakt om zo'n complexiteit rode wijn te maken zegt de heer Brunel.

Het vinificatieproces van Chateau De La Gardine Chateauneuf du Pape Rood

De oogst wordt volledig met de hand binnen gehaald en geselecteerd. Daarna worden ze gekneusd en gaan ze samen de vergistingstank in. Aan het begin van het gistingsproces worden de schilletjes die boven komen druiven regelmatig ondergedompeld. Hierna blijft de wijn nog zo’n 5 tot 10 dagen in contact met deze schilletjes en wordt daarna overgeplaatst naar betonnen vaten voor de malolactische gisting. De wijn rijpt tot slot 9 tot 14 maanden op eikenhouten vaten. En o wat een prachtig resultaat levert dat op.
