Enkele dagen later rijdt een collega van de overledene in het kanaal van Brussel en verdrinkt. Beide slachtoffers werkten bij een farmaceutische firma die nieuwe medicijnen ontwikkelt. Goris gelooft niet in dat soort toeval. Wie hier achter zit heeft geld én hersenen. Hij bijt zich als een terriër vast in de zaak.

Goris en Pauwels hebben in hun loopbaan al heel wat gevaren getrotseerd. Maar als ze oog in oog staan met een van de briljantste en gevaarlijkste wetenschappers ter wereld, schieten alle kneepjes van het politievak tekort.
