Mag-Hytec has introduced a Dana 60 front differential cover that adds a quart of capacity over the stock cover (up from 3-3.5 quarts stock to 4-4.5 quarts). It is a perfect match in appearance and function to the rear differential covers. Perhaps the most important feature for off-road use of your four wheel drive Turbo Diesel is the angled ramp on the bottom half of the cover, instead of a flat mounting flange. The purpose for this ramp is that if you hit a rock or other obstruction on the trail, the differential will tend to ride up and over it instead of smashing the cover into the gears.
Constructed from high-quality cast aluminum right here in the USA, this differential cover from Mag-Hytec keeps your differential remarkably cooler than your stock cover. This dramatic increase in heat dissipation happens for three reasons: First, the cast aluminum deals with heat in a vastly better manner than the stock steel pan. Second, Mag-Hytec designed the cover with external cooling fins to get rid of heat fast. Third, this cover holds more fluid than stock. Cool, dense fluid is always a good way to keep temperatures under control. The combination of cooling fins and additional fluid make for an exceptional upgrade to protect your differential.
Mag-Hytec also made sure this cover comes with a host of other features. To keep your fluid clean, the cover comes standard with a magnetic drain plug--designed to pull harmful ferrous metal particles right out of the oil long before they have any chance of hurting your differential. Next, the cover features a pre-tapped 1/8 NPT port for those who wish to install a temperature probe--capped with a stainless steel plug when not in use. Finally, an o-ring is used to seal the cover instead of messy sealant and gaskets. This cover allows you to drive your truck hard without fear of heat damage!
Please select from the options. In most instances, only 2002 model years will feature the Vented Front Cover option.
IMPORTANT NOTES:- Installation of the cover is just a bit more involved than for the other Mag-Hytec covers. You need to pop the drivers side tie rod end loose from the steering knuckle to give clearance between the ring gear and the steering rod. Mag-Hytec - DANA 60 Front Differential Cover
