The Kurzweil K2000 is a digital workstation synthesiser released by Kurzweil in 1991, built around the company’s V.A.S.T. (Variable Architecture Synthesis Technology) engine. It offers 24-voice polyphony, advanced synthesis, extensive MIDI control, and a powerful internal effects system. Units like this one, fitted with the Orchestral ROM expansion include additional high-quality acoustic instrument waveforms—such as strings, brass, and woodwinds—expanding the factory sound set for scoring and ensemble work. The K2000 became widely respected for its depth, sound quality, and flexibility, and remains a cornerstone of early-1990s professional workstation design.

Condition:
  • This unit has been used.

  • This K2000 has had a minor service. All issues and faulty components were replaced and every tact switch was replaced with a brand new one.

  • Unfortunately the floppy disk drive is not working. The unit has SCSI for loading and saving data so this does not affect the use or functions of the unit. A synth savvy person could swap it out for a more modern emulator if they liked.

  • The cosmetic condition of this unit is good. It shows some general wear from use and age like some marks, nicks and scratches. there are some marks from where some tape use to be. There is some text written on the unit from a previous owner.

  • The backlight on the screen does not work anymore. It is a large screen and is very legible with a normal amount of light.

  • This unit has the Orchestral Rom expansion installed.

  • This unit has the fan replaced in the past.

  • A previous owner has modified the memory battery circuit. You no longer use the AA batteries in the back as they are notrious for leaks and damage. The memory batteries are found mounted under the back panel, mounted to the case.

  • Please be aware this unit is 240V. This means this K2000 is ready to plug and play within Australia and New Zealand.

  • This unit powers on with a standard IEC cable.

  • If you purchase from outside Australia you will need a step-up transformer to use this unit. Please contact us if you need any help sourcing the correct product.

  • This sale is for the unit only. No other parts, cables or accessories are included unless mentioned above.
