The Piggy Incredible High Technics HU-8400 Chromatic Tuner, produced in Japan in the late 1970s to early 1980s, is a compact tuner from Piggy’s short-lived but distinctive effects lineup, designed to provide stage-friendly chromatic tuning for guitar and bass before digital pedal tuners became standard. The HU-8400 uses an analogue meter-style display for pitch indication and offers chromatic operation rather than fixed key tuning, making it more flexible than many contemporary tuners of its time. Now relatively uncommon, it is valued primarily as a vintage curiosity and collector piece, appreciated for its design and place in the early evolution of pedalboard tuning solutions.
