This Damascus camping and hunting knife set has four knives. Every knife is 8 inches overall. Each blade is forged from Damascus steel with a bold flowing water and ladder pattern. All four are drop-point profiles — wide belly, controlled tip, built for skinning, field dressing, and camp cutting tasks. Each handle is orange pakka wood with a smooth finish and a silver bolster at the blade end. A lanyard hole sits at the base of every handle. Full tang runs through every piece. A brown leather roll with silver snap buttons is included.

This is the only Damascus camping and hunting knife set at JW Steel Crafts with four 8-inch drop point Damascus blades, orange pakka wood handles, and a leather roll in this outdoor configuration.

The History Behind This Blade

Drop point hunting knives became the standard field blade in North American hunting through the 20th century, where the wide belly and controlled tip gave hunters more skinning control than clip point or spear point alternatives. Damascus steel was adopted on hunting knives for its layered grain structure that holds a sharp field edge through repeated skinning and camp cutting without frequent resharpening. Orange pakka wood handles entered outdoor knife making as a weather-resistant grip material that holds firm in wet field conditions without swelling or cracking. The JW Steel Crafts Damascus hunting set carries that field tradition across all four blades.

Blade Performance

Every blade is forged from Damascus steel with a bold flowing water and ladder pattern. All four are drop point profiles. The wide belly gives full control during skinning and field dressing strokes. The controlled tip reduces accidental puncture during precise detail cuts on game. At 8 inches overall, each knife sits at the right length for one-hand field use — long enough for full cutting strokes, short enough for controlled close work. Damascus steel holds a sharp field edge through repeated outdoor cutting sessions. The high polish finish reduces drag during slicing and resists surface staining in field conditions.

Handle Construction

Every handle is orange pakka wood with a smooth warm finish. Pakka wood is dense and fully moisture-resistant — it holds firm through rain, wet hands, and field conditions without swelling, warping, or cracking. A silver bolster sits at the blade end of every knife and adds front balance behind the blade. A lanyard hole at the base of each handle allows wrist cord attachment for secure field carry. Full tang runs the full handle length on every piece for consistent balance through heavy outdoor cutting tasks. The brown leather roll with silver snap buttons holds all four knives in separate slots for safe storage and field transport.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are all four blades drop point profile?
Drop point gives a wide belly for skinning and a controlled tip for detail cuts — the most versatile shape for hunting and fieldwork.

Is 8 inches a good size for a hunting knife?
Yes. Eight inches overall gives enough blade length for full cutting strokes while staying short enough for controlled one-hand field use.

Does the leather roll hold all four knives?
Yes. The roll has four separate slots, one per knife, with silver snap buttons to keep blades secure during transport.

Are orange pakka wood handles safe in wet field conditions?
Yes. Pakka wood fully resists moisture and holds a firm grip through rain, wet hands, and outdoor use without swelling.

What is the lanyard hole used for?
Attaching a wrist cord for secure carry during active field use — prevents the knife from dropping during hunting or camp tasks.

Is this set suitable as a gift?
Yes. Four matched Damascus drop point blades with orange handles and a leather roll make a strong gift for hunters and outdoor enthusiasts.

How do I care for this set?
Wipe blades dry after field use. Apply light oil to Damascus blades occasionally. Condition the leather roll with leather oil. Store in a dry place.

In law there is always another way
Format: Kindle
I finished this book having completed all but one course for my law degree. It is a goldmine of techniques and outlines the modus operandi of how Judges and Lawyers ideally operate.

Needs to be more concise to weed out extraneous crap in your arguments
Format: Paperback
It’s very wordy and could be a lot more concise and be even more effective. “Getting to maybe” is not an exercise in dissertations but finding the right points to create an effective argument. There are better resources out there.

This book made me angry
Format: Paperback
I was excited about this book. Many law-related blogs and forums highly recommended this book. It's a "must read" for law students, they said. I was angry when I read the introduction. I was angrier when I began reading the chapters. What happened to brevity? Law students are already swamped with course readings. Why write a book intended to be read by law students in such a long and voluminous way? Much of the text can be removed. "Get to the point," I found myself telling the author as I read page after page. I hated it. It is the rare law student who will pick up this book for its narrative value. The typical law student will pick this book for its value on navigating through law school exams, not for its story-telling. Yet that student will be left disappointed. I wish the author would have considered writing a "Get to the Point" book, which would serve as a shorter version of 'Getting to Maybe.' Perhaps it is not too late. "Get to the Point" could serve as an alternative or accompanying version, maybe? I ask that the author considers this.
