The core of any light kit consists of light stands that hold fixtures, reflectors, and accessories, such as this set of two Heavy-Duty Air-cushioned 9.5' Light Stands from Impact . Each black-anodized, three-section stand can support loads weighing up to 22 lb. The stand has a removable 5/8" top stud with 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 male threads to cover all mounting eventualities. It rises to a maximum height of 114" (9.5'), and has a wide 52" leg spread or footprint for rock-solid support and balance. A valuable asset is the stand's air-cushioning. If you've ever had a light come crashing down from a loose knob or because of a harried schedule, you'll appreciate this feature. The pneumatic action of the air-cushioning gently lowers your fixture when making height adjustments, avoiding damage of expensive equipment. The stands accept optional wheels for smooth repositioning without lowering the gear to minimum height.
