Mahi Marlborough Pinot Noir 2014"Even, dark ruby red colour, a little lighter on the im. The nose is softly full and well packed with deep aromas of savoury dark red berry fruits melded with a complex layering of dark herbs, whole bunch stalk notes, unveiling some nutty oak. Medium full bodied, the palate has a sweetly rich core of complex flavours of savoury dark red fruits along with notes of liquorice and suggestions of spicy plums.

"Even, dark ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the im.  The nose is softly full and well-packed with deep aromas of savoury dark-red berry fruits melded with a complex layering of dark herbs, whole bunch stalk notes, unveiling some nutty oak.  This nose has fruit richness and freshness.  Medium-full bodied, the palate has a sweetly rich core of complex flavours of savoury dark-red fruits along with notes of liquorice and suggestions of spicy plums.  Dark herb and whole cluster stalk detail add to the interest.  The flavours are harmonious and well-balanced, showing good depth and presence.  The fruit richness is balanced and supported by fine-grained tannin extraction and fine acidity which allows the fruit to prevail, carrying to a long, lingering finish. This is a rich-fruited and complex dark-red berried Pinot Noir with herb, spice and stalk notes on a palate with good depth and real presence.  Match with duck, pork, beef and lamb dishes over the next 6+ years.  Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Twin Valleys’ vineyard in Fareham Road, the ‘Byrne’ vineyard and from Ward, indigenous yeast fermented with 20% whole bunches to 13.9% alc., the wine aged 18 months in 18% new French oak barriques," Raymond Chan

A full and rich bouquet, this wine is mouthfilling, ripe and supple with good complexity. Dark cherries and plums combine with soft tannins to give a well-rounded finish.

One of the things that will be remembered about the 2014 vintage in Marlborough was the very early start, and the early finish, giving us a relaxed Easter, which is a pretty rare occurrence.

The other two things that will stick out in our memories of this year were that it was a fecund year, a fertile year, a season of plenty with the vines showing the effects of the great flower initiation in December 2012 and superb flowering conditions in December 2013; and that it was a game of two halves, great conditions up until April the 8th, and damper tones after that.

Another year showing unique conditions that continue to educate, excite and humble us.

Value for your money
Style: AVR-X2800H
I am loving the sound quality while listening to music as well as watching movies. I am running a 5.2.2 surround sound which is a step up from my sound bar and I am loving it. This receive has tons of features. Apart from the sound quality, I love the fact that I can set my power on volume and a volume limit.

More like a 7.1.2 not 7.2
Style: AVR-X2800H
Looks and feel brand new, set up is easy especially if you have used Denon before. I needed to upgrade my old system to get the 8k signal for a new TV i bought. The only issue I've had is its listed as 7.2, but its more of 7.1.2. You can connect 7 speakers and adjust each individually, you can connect 2 subs but they both receive a split signal and can not be individually adjusted in the receiver. A little misleading, but still a great system.

Worth the Money
Style: AVR-X2800H
I have had this item for a few weeks now. This is the first high-tech AVR I have purchased. I decided to retire my 25 year old Denon AVR 900. Still works awesome and is in perfect shape. Needed to upgrade to newer technology. Many will frown at this, but I initially sent back an Onkyo TX-RZ30. I just found that I did not feel comfortable with the technology, but it is an exceptional receiver. I decided to go with the Denon AVR-X2800H. I just feel more confident with the Denon layout and setup guide. I have not been dissapointed. I very reluctantly ordered a refurshed model. I can tell no different, even in the packaging. Looked totally brand new. I will say that I am still learning all of the setup, but so as for ease of general setup and assigning speakers it has been very user friendly. I was curious to see the sound difference with music between my 25 year old Denon and the new Denon 2800. I was not dissapointed. I have a smaller room for the AVR, so I am using Klipsch 600II, Klipsch 400C center speaker, Fluance Signature Series bookshelf speakers, and Polk OWM3 rear speakers. The receiver push all these speaker quite easily and efficiently. I would definatly recommend this Denon model. Can it last 25 years plus like my other Denon. Only time will tell.
