The palate is fleshy, medium bodied and elegant with powdery tannin structure and a persistent finish. Fleurie AOP is one of the ten designated crus in Beaujolais, named after a Roman legionary. The main feature of the commune is a hill topped with a chapel and a prominent statue of the Madonna, from which the lieu dit La Madone is derived.
